Museum of Portals

Issue 13

2019

  • BEWARE and WARNING!

This literary magazine is different from other literary magazines. You and YOU ALONE are in charge of which portal you may take to the stories. There are dangers, choices, adventures, and consequences. YOU must use all of your numerous talents and much of your enormous intelligence. The wrong decision could end in disaster– even death. But, don't despair. At anytime, YOU can go back and make another choice, alter the path of your story, and change its result.

This issue of The Sanctuary has brought exciting new ideas and views into speculative work. This year we get to travel through space and time, visit pocket dimensions and cocktail parties, remember Neverland, and have our memories altered. We called this issue the Museum of Portals because each piece felt like an inter-dimensional gateway into someone else's world. We always strive to showcase underrepresented voices and use our speculative work to see things from a different point of view. This work reminds us that it's never too late to gain a new perspective or change your path.

So join us, and pick your own path through the magazine. Jump from a car ride to a gravesite to the ocean waves and allow the pieces to become part of your story and remind you that your story counts.

This is my last year as Editor and I am so grateful for my time here. It most certainly has been an adventure. Sometimes dangerous, sometimes disaster, and on a few occasions there was very nearly death. But my amazing staff has been there through everything and I am leaving the magazine in capable, if slightly gooey hands. I could not be prouder of the work that everyone has done to make our magazine into the beautiful collection you hold in your hands.

It has been a great adventure and I wouldn't choose any other way.
